Shard error when user searches for query with exclamation, slash, etc

I'm still getting these errors pretty much daily.

@Xon do you see a solution for this bug? My members hit this quite often.
I need to be able to search for special characters to find posts that have another issue.

Works fine for me searching for "something!". Returns posts with something in and no errors are logged.

I'm feeling this might be one of those weird compatibility issues which are version specific.

I have been getting the error on Elastic 6.2-6.6

ElasticSearch was just upgraded to 6.7 but the error remains.

What version of Search Improvements? Do you have "Enhanced Search Syntax" from Search Improvements enabled?

It was already active. xf_es_search_failed has nothing. Is this the correct table?
